DESCRIPTION:
KYMAX® is designed as a custom color tintable, very durable, roofing topcoat finish. KYMAX® is recommended whenever a tinted color or exceptional weatherability are required, whether the environmental threat is algae, mildew, dirt or industrial fallout. It also provides additional UV and color stability, even in bright colors. Although it is highly flexible, it exhibits a tough, enamellike finish that resists abrasion, biological growth, dirt, oil and all types of weather extremes. The natural fire retardancy of the film provides long-term protection, eliminating the need for additional additives that eventually migrate from the film.
APPLICATION RATE: KYMAX is typically applied at the rate of 3 to 4 dry mils (76 to 102 microns), generally by spray method. It is designed as a finish coat over a standard elastomeric acrylic basecoat, such as UNITED’S Kymax Basecoat, Roof Mate, Roof Mate Basecoat, Roofshield or Acrycryl Systems.
SUBSTRATES: Typical substrates include standing seam metal roofs, corregated metal roofs, sprayed-in-place polyurethane foam, modified bitumen, PVC, TPO, Hypalon® and EPDM. KYMAX can also be applied directly over metal roofing and existing elastomeric coatings to rejuvenate color, and/or increase dirt pick-up resistance and reflectivity.
FINISH: Kymax cures to an attractive semi-gloss finish.

APPLICATION METHODS: KYMAX is best pumped and sprayed, but is easily rolled on at material temperatures of 60°F (16°C) or greater. DO not dilute. An airless sprayer is best suited for large field area applications. Use a power mixer capable of uniformly mixing the entire container prior to use.
COVERAGE: Apply at the rate of 1.25 gallons per 100 square feet. Irregular surfaces and longer warranty systems may require more coat coating (s).
