DESCRIPTION:
One-part, moisture-curing RTV (room temperature vulcanizing) acetoxy silicone that cures to a strong, washable, silicone rubber which maintains long-term durability, adhesion and flexibility. Excellent for kitchen or bath tile sealing. Acetoxy has natural antibacterial properties and is suitable for kitchen and bath areas.
Non-slumping sealant. Can be applied to vertical or overhead surfaces without flowing or sagging. Because ASI 502 is a 100% silicone sealant, it has excellent resistance to weathering including ozone, ultra-violet radiation, freeze-thaw conditions and airborne chemicals. Can handle temperatures up to 400F in the black color. During cure, an acetic acid smell is produced. Also available in 8 special decorator translucent colors to match marble, granite and tile work.
Applications:
- Fully cured, ASI 502 has excellent adhesion to glass, metal, porcelain, ceramic, wood, most plastics and many other nonporous substrates.
- Food service installations.
- Walk-in refrigerators.
- Trailers.
- Engine components.
- Sealing and waterproofing.
- Coaxial cable connectors.
- Weatherize switch parts.
- Instrument mountings.
Uses:
- Formed-in-place gaskets for axle housings, differentials, junction box covers, etc.
- Adhering appliance trim and sealing appliance parts.
- Adhering name plates, letters and signs.
- Sealing joints in ductwork.
- Sealing truck trailers, cabs, marine portholes and cabins.
- Skylights.
- Sheet metal.
- Limitations: Not paintable. Not for porous substrates which can be stained (such as limestone or porous tile), not for continuous submersion.
